Hello! I made a vlog for blog posts ten and eleven so enjoy watching that. In this assignment, I had to talk about the two documentaries I watched to kick off our research project. Miss Representation and The Mask You Live In touch on how media and society effects women and men's mental health. It talks about information that we already know but digs deeper to show the nasty facts we don't. I enjoyed watching these and these have really made me think about our world.

Hello! This is my blog post number nine! In this assignment, I had to think about our discourse community that we created in our English Comp class. I really enjoyed reflecting on our interactions and how close we are as a classroom. I feel very comfortable with my classmates and I’m glad I got to spend this semester with them and our professor.
For this blog, I had to go over three pieces of writing. One’s our very own, Sabatino Mangini’s: Discourse Community Values. The other one I read was, What is Literacy? by James Paul Gee, this was a harder piece to read due to Gee being a linguist. And the last one was, We Are Many by Pablo Neruda, this was a really cool poem to get into and try and decipher. These were fun to read over and I’ve decided to combine the three into a found poem of what I think represents the identity of our discourse community. Resistant to money, power, status Everything seems to be set to cultivate joy in writing and learning Clarify meaning to oneself and call up the real self, the truly me Dazzling hero figures that connect past, present, and future Compose in love of intelligence Teaching and learning are connected with love, not envy Enable writer’s identity to a thousand tiny reservations of positive connections To build on and extend love Generate love Speak love Cultivate love Communicate love Use love Isn't my cat modelworthy? @petsmart hit us up.
Something I also noticed in my writing, my tone is really in my work. Also isn't petsmart a weird word? I also pronounced it as "pet's mart" for ever but I googled it and it's really "pet smart", whoops. Hello! Blog number eight here! This will be my last blog post for at least a week or so because I am going on spring break! Woohoo! I'm not doing anything exciting besides working, but it'll be nice to have the week off from classes. The past week of class was great. I got to share my first draft for my memoir and I was also able to get feedback. I also had a midterm conference with Sabatino, my professor, and we discussed where I'm at so far in the semester. For this blog post, I am going to reflect on where my digital portfolio (aka this webpage) is at and if I need to add anything to improve it!
I felt like I needed to share this picture of my cat, Malcolm. I was trying to write in my journal but I was failing because of him.
I still adore him though. Blog number 7! We made it! (Sorta) This is my vlog blog post! In this assignment, I had to reflect on this semester so far and how I feel about a few things regarding myself and my writing. This was an interesting assignment to do because I have never vlogged before. It was a little weird at first but once I got into it, it became easier. It was really cool to reflect on my work so far and if you're interested in reflective writing, check out this video on Youtube called Reflective Writing! This was pretty cool to watch. Anyways, check out my vlog! |
