I've written plenty of research essays in my academic career, and I can honestly say, I am not a fan. I've struggled with procrastinating and that isn't something you can do when writing a ten page research paper. Anyone can tell that I put off these papers to the last second because my writing is all over the place and isn't thought out properly, I basically just take facts and spew them over the page and hope it looks pretty. I realize that a research paper should flow, it shouldn't be as if someone took an encyclopedia place information down line by line. Unfortunately, that is how my writing is so it makes my tone very robotic and impersonal.
Our research project revolves around two documentaries we watched, Miss Representation and The Mask You Live In. These two documentaries focus on media and how it affects women and men, especially younger generations. I decided to focus on Miss Representation because it's about the media effecting girls and it's something I can heavily relate to.
We got to do some different blog posts during this research project. I made a vlog after we watched the two documentaries and talked about my thoughts about it, and that was awesome. And then for the next few blog assignments, I had to document my research project process in my Research Project: Social Suicide and Research Project: Reflection posts. And in my Research Project: Social Hiatus post, I made a quick post about after turning in my draft.
To be honest, research projects still aren't fun to me. However, this project was really cool to do. I was able to write about something I already knew and that applied to me. I feel like because of that, this was the only research project that has been bearable. I hope future research projects are like this one.
