This page is where I'll be posting up my narrative English Composition project and all of the blogs and drafts working up to it. One of the last times I've written a narrative piece would've had to been elementary school, which is unfortunate because narrative stories can be fun to write. Most of my middle school and high school career was writing research papers or answering open ended essay questions, so I haven't written a narrative piece in a very long time. I've overcome and dealt with a lot, as one would expect, in my late teenage/early adult years. I've struggled with self control, self esteem, and heartache, and I hope my drafts and blogs tell a story that anyone can relate to. It's a little nerve-wracking posting up personal stories because it makes me feel vulnerable, but I think overall it'll help me find my author identity.
In my Composing an Emotional Scene and Composing an Emotional Scene with Dialogue & Symbolism blogs, I had to write about scenes from my life that evoked a strong emotion in me. These two blogs helped me feel comfortable about letting people see a more intimate side of me, which I need to embrace when it comes to writing my memoir. I'm not one to open up to people unless I feel very comfortable around them, so these were hard to write, but I'm glad that I did.
After writing my first draft for my memoir, I had to answer questions that required me to reflect on my story in my A Wizard-of-Oz Journey blog. It helped me look back at that event in my life and process what I went through and how I felt about it. I enjoyed this part of the project because I don't really analyze my life so it was interesting to do that. I didn't have to do blog #6 because we won a super prize during our game show! However, I did a Midterm Reflection vlog! In this assignment, I reflected on my writing and where I'm at in the semester so far. I'm happy I did this after I worked on my first draft for my narrative project because I really had to dig deep for that piece and it helped me realize my new found love for writing.
